Killstreaks & Scorestreaks are back once again in MW2: Multiplayer. Returning fan favorites like the Advanced UAV are confirmed, and there’s even an interesting new addition!

Back in 2007, when the original Modern Warfare was released, Killstreaks were first introduced to the game.

Today, they are a vital part of Multiplayer & individual players’ strategies on their chosen play style.

The adrenaline rush of being on a high Killstreak without dying is unmatched & turns the tide in matches. Here’s how they work!

These are the current Streaks available for Killstreaks and Scorestreaks in Modern Warfare 2 and the number of Kills and Score required to unlock them:

The UAV is a classic easy streak to earn that reveals enemy locations on the mini-map every few seconds for you and all squad members for a limited time.

UAVs are easily shot down with launchers and have multiple counters like the Counter-UAV & Ghost perk (which allows players to stay off the mini-map when a UAV is active).

Bomb Drones are flown anywhere in the playable area, it’s C4 charge can be activated manually or when it runs out of fuel.

It is most effective near objectives or groups of players and is also used for recon with its onboard camera.

The Bomb Drone is easily disabled by being shot down, running out of fuel, or hitting the water.

Disables enemy UAVs, as well as other tools that use the mini-map to display information.

Just like the UAV, the Counter UAV is also easily shot down by launchers.

Care Package markers can be thrown in a location you wish the helicopter to drop them off and contain any standard Killstreak that isn’t another care package.

The contents of the care package are random and the odds are weighted towards less expensive streaks.

Packages can also be lost by tumbling away, getting stuck on rooftops, or out-of-bounds locations. It will also float on water if it lands on it.

A brand new Killstreak in MW2 that once placed, automatically detects enemy’s within a short radius, sending up one of four mines.

These mines cause an explosion slightly bigger than one from lethal equipment. The Cluster Mine has the potential to wipe out small groups of enemies at once.

It is effective near objectives or in tight spaces. This new mine can be shot or destroyed with equipment.

Allow players to mark the area with a spotter scope and two jets will rain down bombs and gunfire in succession.

These jets are quick enough to avoid enemy launchers however sometimes miss their target due to high buildings.

You can steer and accelerate the cruise missile to your target hitting enemies, equipment, and even enemy aerial Killstreaks.

Players are highlighted making them easier to see however players with the ‘Cold-Blooded’ perk will not appear highlighted making them harder to spot.

Using a laser pointer you can mark any position for an explosive barrage of mortar strikes to hit enemies, great for denying small areas for a short period. You can be killed by your strike, so watch out!

An upgraded precision airstrike as it has an additional jet and gives you the ability to control the path of each strike that drops explosives to kill enemies or equipment.

The S.A.E works well in objective-based game modes to control objectives. This streak has a slight delay between jets when called in.

You can place the Sentry Gun and leave it to scan for nearby enemies to shoot and kill, it can be picked back up and re-deployed anywhere. Great for defending an area.

It is controlled by the AI instead of yourself & only shoots at 90-degree angles so it’s easy to get behind if not placed in a good spot.

Strike a specific area marked via a tablet to drop two sets of bombs then guards the area. Its fast-firing turrets can easily eliminate opponents.

Great for defending areas and objectives. You can move the VTOL to another area of your choice by an on-screen prompt.

The VTOL can be shot down however not as easy as a UAV.

Follows close behind your operator & pings enemy locations, it can even eliminate a few for you. This Helo will withstand more than just a single launcher shot.

Because of its location over you in the sky, this can sometimes compromise your position.

You can manually control the Wheelson or set it to auto-pilot to patrol around and kill enemies it’s powerful mini-turret. This is the new and improved Wheelson from Modern Warfare 2019.

This new Wheelson can float on water making it a great companion land or sea.

This Stealth Bomber drops explosive shells on most of the map. Your enemies have only one way to avoid this Killstreak, find cover.

A COD Killstreak classic, you pilot this chopper along with its guns for extensive firepower against enemies below.

You have a choice between cannon rounds & rockets. Additionally, you can switch to thermal mode to highlight enemies’ heat signatures.

In terms of defense, it will withstand a few rockets and comes with flares to escape anti-targeting threats.

Functions the same as the care package, and comes with 3 random Killstreaks. Act fast, or share with your team. Why have one when you can have 3?

This Gunship cycles through missiles, 40mm & 25mm cannons to dominate your opponents whilst circling the map from above and toggling the inbuilt thermal sight to detect hostiles.

When you rack up this amount of kills or score, this is the most powerful aerial Killstreak you can control.

You can utilize it to show all enemy locations for you and your squad, as well as see what direction they are facing in real-time.

It is one of the hardest Killstreaks you can earn and rightly so!

It allows the player to become a super soldier with increased health and armor. The Juggernaut suit comes with a mini-gun that boasts the most damage per second in the game of any handheld weapon.

This Streak can be called-in as a standard care package that can be thrown anywhere on the map. Once secured you will obtain the Juggernaut suit.

It is easily the ultimate ground-based Killstreak if you can rack up all 15 kills without dying, that is if you can capture the care package in time!

To top it off, this suit plays music whilst you tear enemies apart. Just remember, heavy armor is like an anchor in the water.

Killstreaks are in-match rewards that players can obtain by achieving consecutive kills withouth dying.

Each Killstreak reward requires a determined amount of consecutive kills to unlock. For instance, a UAV requires four kills and a Precision Aistrike requires six kills.

Players can equip up to three streaks, which include useful match deciding equipment such Bomb Drones.

However, players can opt for a fourth Killstreak if they manage to obtain an additional one during a match via a Care Package or through other means.

MW2 allows players to equip Killstreaks separate to Loadouts right from the Weapons menu. However, gamers can not swap streaks during a match.

This limitation means you need to decide which Killstreaks work best for the stretagy you are planning before entering the next match.

Each kill without dying earns on additional point to your total Killstreak. Earn enough kills to unlock each of the streaks you have chosen. Dying resets your Killstreak to zero.

It is worth noting that kills you earn via a Killstreak do not stack up to unlock your next streak reward.

Scorestreaks are an alternative to unlocking Killstreak rewards by earning Score through various match objectives.

Each Killstreak has a determined Score to unlock as a Scorestreak. For example, if you want to unlock a UAV, it will require 500 Score instead of four kills in a row.

Despite being the same rewards, Scorestreaks are aimed for the more objective-based players that enjoy a more goal oriented tactical approach.

To equip Scorestreaks, players need to follow these steps:

Players can earn Score for Scorestreaks in MW2 by:
