The first ever Jewish restaurant and delicatessen in Doylestown closed its doors just days after celebrating its grand opening. Ed Doyle wrote about the sudden closure for TAP Into Doylestown.

Matzah Balls, which just celebrated its grand opening last Friday, had its doors closed following a dispute between the new owner and the landlord. Several incidents led up the closure.

On the opening day, a refrigerator case fell on the owner’s foot, leaving him unable to work. The injury forced him to close the doors of the restaurant for the first few days of the week.

Come Thursday afternoon, those looking to get some authentic Jewish cuisine found a padlock on the new shop’s door, placed there by the local sheriff. An eviction notice could be found there as well. As a result of the owner injuring his foot, the check of the rent was bounced and the landlord had the new shop shuttered.

With this recent development, there is no current news as to whether the restaurant and delicatessen will open its doors back up any time soon.
